Panda houses in
Harderwijk

This project is supported by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and aims to achieve a very low energy consumption in sustainable houses. This project achieves an energy performance (EPc) = 0,75.
The project consists of 31 houses, constructed as one row of single-family terraced houses and two rows of houses for the elderly (so-called senior houses).
The senior houses have the living room, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom on the ground floor and a spare room on the first floor. The energy use of the houses had to be 60% below the 'reference' energy use at that time, which is now 40% below the government standard. To achieve this low energy consumption, the houses have a very high insulation level and very low U-value windows. The houses also have a heat recovery system. To reduce energy loss the (hot) water supply lines and the heating lines are kept as short as possible.
A solar collector for domestic hot water, and a 4 m2 photovoltaic system are integrated into each roof. The PV system is the Lafarge RBB 700 roof tile integrated PV system, a relatively new system on the Dutch market. Each system produces approximately 0.4 kWp.
Despite the urban situation, which is east/west oriented, the houses make good use of passive solar energy.
