The design is based on the idea to integrate environmental technological aspects, such as using solar energy, into the building in such a way that they help create a special atmosphere.

The plaza is an unheated outdoor area that connects sports halls, the office tower and the pub. The glass walls in between the pub and the plaza can be opened. The glass roof covering the plaza contains transparent PV modules. Integrating PV into the glass roof prevents overheating in summer as well as providing shade and diffuse light. Sitting in the plaza, people can see into the sports halls and look up to watch the climbers on the indoor climbing wall.

This sports centre consists of two sports halls (for competitions), an office tower, a pub, an indoor climbing wall and a fitness area, all situated around a central area in the heart of the sports centre, the plaza.

The office tower is also used as part of the bioclimatic system of the building. The glass roof, stretching up to 24 metres, covers the climbing wall and also acts as a solar chimney. Under-pressure in the corridor space is created by a wind vent cowl. A heat pump reuses the warm airflow to produce hot water for the showers.
