Apartments for Elderly Surinam People
Tilburg (NL)

This building with 22 apartments is built for elder Surinam people. These people can live here together and special care is taken for their health and religion. In the building is a small office, a doctors room and a meeting room. The elevator and the gallery are protected against wind and rain by an open glass facade.

The apartments are build on the site of a former cloister in the middle of an old town quarter of Tilburg. Around the former cloister garden more new house are built (designed by BEAR Architecten).

The gallery is protected against rain and snow. For security reasons, 30% of the windows along the gallery have to be open. Balconies and living rooms are focused on the sun by a slight rotation of the plan.
